Hi and welcome to 2012

We are a fully WWC checked husband and wife team able to assist you to provide practical support for teachers. We'll come to you at an affordable rate, still delivering what your school needs.

We'll tailor what we do according to school requirements. We can support both PC and Mac schools. As we travel with our caravan we can stay anywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks.

Reference Sites

In 2008 we traveled to Nullagine and Marble Bar where we spent a few weeks initially before returning to do a consolidation and follow up in November. We had a great time and felt like we became part of the community.

In 2009 we again visited Marble Bar and Geraldton.

In 2010 we visited some schools in the south-west.

We worked with teachers, Teacher Assistants and AEO's.

Some of the typical comments from teachers were:
“You've motivated me to try new things.”
“Glad to have someone here who can help us solve all those little problems with the computers.”
“Thanks, you've given me ideas which fit with what I am doing so I've already been able to try them in class.”

Two days in Cranbrook

Brian Appleby from Cranbrook had booked us for Wednesday 18th March. We arrived just after lunch on Tuesday so were able to have a good discussion of his needs, chat with teachers and ready computers by installing software before Wednesday.

On Wednesday we were able to work with each of the 3 primary teachers As we'd had a chance on Tuesday to chat to a couple of teachers about their needs we were able to work with some teachers and their classes on Wednesday. Their needs were simple and the tasks only used Photo Story 3 and MS PowerPoint.

As it was early close, Brian had asked us to attend the meeting with the teachers. He had asked that this be a discussion rather than a presentation although Judy did prepare something in case it was appropriate. At the end of the day Judy decided to set the tone for the meeting by showing the almost 5 minute "Connected classroom" video. This stimulated some discussion but the main topic of the meeting revolved around the folder structure which, due to recent changes in their network, some student spaces were difficult to access. Brian asked if we could stay an extra day to help sort this out and we agreed. Judy spent a little time showing some examples from other schools and effective free software that might be useful.

After further discussion with a long serving staff member we created student spaces in an easily accessible network drive and created a link to another space where teachers could copy photos. This space we made read only for the students so they could not change the photos stored there.

Posters and handouts were also made to explain to teachers and staff how to access these home folders and Rags spent time ensuring all classroom computers were fully set up with required software. Judy made a poster to explain how to access Macquarie Net the Australian online reference that the Department of Education and Training has paid the license for staff and students to access. This requires a Teacher Access Code to use away from school or in setting up student work and this was obtained and documented.

The Registrar was interested in staff accessing Microsoft products at home so Judy printed from the DET Intranet, the 2 order forms that she needed.

We felt happy and stimulated by the discussions and feel that we managed to pack quite a lot into our 2 days in Cranbrook.
